Year 2 Update

Upcoming learning in Year 2

Here is what the Year 2 students have being doing during the last fortnight of learning and also a sneak peek to what is coming next in year 2.

Reading - Students will be engaging in literacy activities using the Little Learners Love Literacy program. During reading classes will be using a range of different text to expand their comprehension. We will look at answering questions, making connections and facts and opinion using a range of different mentor texts.

Writing - Students are halfway through the persuasive writing unit and they have been writing letters to Miss Buckeridge and their teachers sharing their opinions on a range of different topics.

Maths - Year 2 students have been learning addition. They have engaged in a range of different learning activities your hands on materials to show their understanding of addition. Students have also had the opportunity to become the teacher during our maths sessions by teaching their peers the best way to add 2 numbers together.

Inquiry - Pioneer Day on Tuesday 28th of May 2024.

Year 2 children will be celebrating the Inquiry Unit of The Past and Present by participating in our Pioneer Day. Come to school dressed up in ‘Olden day’ clothes and get ready to step back to the past. The day will be filled with activities from the past including a classroom experience, cooking and playing games.

News and reminders:

Jumpers: As the weather is changing. Students need to come to school with jumpers and jackets. A friendly reminder to make sure they are named clearly with your child's name and class.

Home Reading: Take home readers have started. We encourage all students to bring their reader bag back each week to change over their books. Please make sure you are recording when your children are reading each night.
