On Thursday 16th May we acknowledged and celebrated the amazing contribution that our Education Support (ES) staff make at Hillsmeade Primary School. ES staff include our office/administration team, wellbeing team, OSHC and ELC staff and the Integration team members. We made personal acknowledgement of all their hard work and efforts in keeping Hillsmeade afloat and ensured that they were aware how important they are to us and how we could not do our jobs without them. Our students created a thank you video that can be seen on our school's Facebook page. I would personally once again like to recognise each and every one of our ES staff and say an enormous thank you for everything they do for our whole school community.
As you may have seen, the 'broken boat' has finally shipped off to it's new home. We were sad to see the boat leave Hillsmeade, however it has served us so well over the years. We are also continuing to work on the rock problem around the school. These will slowly be eliminated in the coming months - either stored in gabions, as seen already in our yard, or removed permanently. I thank you for your patience in this space.
Thank you to our families for assisting us to run a smooth and productive Curriculum Day on 22nd May. All staff participated in a whole staff professional learning based on 'Differentiation' in the morning session. This was then followed by an assessment and reporting focus for teaching staff and our ES team participated in whole group professional learning, including SWPBS.
Currently the school uniform policy is being updated by School Council. We will be seeking further consultation from families in the coming months. During our most recent Council meeting it was raised that the quality of polo top material may be frustrating for families. If you have any further feedback you wish for me to share with PSW please do not hesitate to email the school.
I remind families that our school colours are NAVY and RED with a splash of white. Black coloured clothing is NOT part of our uniform.
We also look forward to seeing the new Hillsmeade beanies being worn by our students in the coming weeks.
Last week the school marked these significant events with a range of in-school activities for students. There were a variety of physical movement opportunities during lunchtimes including Just Dance, slack lining, and volleyball. Students also participated in a class STEM activity, requiring students to work in teams to solve a technology based challenge. It was a fun-filled few days and special mentions go to Abbie Sheers, Jemma Dunstan and Craig Harrison for their preparation for such a successful week.
Please don't hesitate to book in for a school tour or place your enrolment application in with the school for enrolment in Prep 2025.
A reminder to keep an eye on the Compass calendar to ensure you are up to date with whole school events.
