Beyond the Classroom

STEAM Club

The acronym "STEAM" stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics. The "A" for Arts includes liberal arts, language arts, music, design thinking and fine arts - this is a great addition to the traditional STEM Club, enhancing the STEM approach.

Our extremely popular STEAM Club created their own Ooblek Stress Balls this week, learning about a non-newtonian fluid in the process. A great combination of Science and Wellbeing at a time when students are studying for exams.

Our amazing STEAM Club Coordinator, Ms Kosciuk, has some fantastic projects coming up. If you would like to join STEAM Club, please speak to Ms Kosciuk and come along on Thursdays to B5 at lunchtime.

Art Club - including Malonga Magazine / College Yearbook

Why not express your creativity and come to Art Club on Wednesdays at lunchtime (in B10) or Digital Art Club (in B9 or B15) on Fridays at lunchtime

At Art Club you can come in and draw or paint - We also have some fabulous wooden craft clock kits that you can decorate and take home with you.

Would you like to contribute to our 2024 College Yearbook?

You could design the front or back covers, produce artwork for the pages of the magazine or perhaps you have some brilliant ideas to make it a better yearbook? Prizes will be awarded for contributions that make it to the final copy.

If you are interested in finding out more, please come along to Art Club on Wednesdays at lunchtime.

Digital Art Club

Are you interested in Digital Art?

Every Friday, Ms Rhodes-Anderson, gets out the iPads ready for students to create some fabulous designs. If you would like to join them, please come along to B9 (or on some days B15) at lunchtime on Fridays.

Don't Hate, Advocate

Our Don't Hate, Advocate group held a fantastic celebration for IDAHOBIT Day on the 17th May. With lunch provided, as well as inspiring presentations given by a few of our students. Some great badges and sticker sheets were also handed out at the event. IDAHOBIT stands for the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Intersexism and Transphobia and was created to highlight the violence, discrimination and repression experienced by LGBTQIA+ people all over the world.

Celebrating IDAHOBIT is a way to show support for our LGBTIQA+ community. It is an important day to acknowledge because 2 in 3 LGBTIQA+ youth experience abuse due to their identity. At Pakenham Secondary College, whether you are part of the LGBTIQA+ Community or an ally - we stand together.

If you would like join our Don't Hate, Advocate Club, please come along to A10 during the first part of lunchtime on Thursdays - or have a chat to Ms Erjavec.
