VET Information Session & Expo for Years 9-11 Students & their Parents/Carers - 4th June 2024

 

Headstart Information Sessions

Head Start are holding some information sessions for parents and students to get a better understanding of apprenticeships and traineeships and how they can support students to start their career pathways while they are still at school. These information sessions will be held at the Chisholm Berwick and Dandenong TAFE campuses. 

 

 

Deakin University Introduces 'Careers Stories' Hub

 

Many students aren’t sure what they want to do in the future as they haven’t been exposed to a lot of information on specific careers.  Deakin University has developed a suite of information highlighting jobs and industries, aiming to provide students with real-life stories.  These insights can provide students with the break down of skills, challenges and rewards in a number of work-related fields.  To view this information go to:

 

Focus on Melbourne

The University of Melbourne still has several faculties ‘focus on’ sessions coming up during June.  They are designed for students who are considering enrolment in 2025.  They are ‘in person’ and you must register in advance.

Discover Monash

Monash University also has events coming up over the next month.  This includes Course Information Events which give you the opportunity to hear from current students, alumni and academics regarding specific courses, internships and career opportunities.  

 

They are also holding Campus Experience Events providing future students with the opportunity to visit their four campuses and experience what they have to offer.  Many of these require registration so please read thoroughly. 

 

RMIT Tech and Trades Experience Day

RMIT are holding next-level workshops in the July school holidays, providing students with the opportunity to walk a day in the shoes of a RMIT student. Students from Years 10 - 12 (and their parents) are invited to join in this activity.

 

Students get to choose two workshops from the 10 listed.  They will get to use the tools and equipment that RMIT students use during their course, as well as gain an insight into what each course entails. 

 

When:           4July  2024, 9:00 am – 2:00 pm

Where:         RMIT, Swanston St, Melbourne

Cost:            FREE

SAE Creative Media Institute - Create for a Day

SAE have their Create for a Day workshop coming up in July! Explore life as an SAE student and dive into the world of creative media across Animation, Audio, Design, Film, Games, and Music. If you are passionate about creative disciplines and considering a career in creative media, don't miss this exclusive opportunity to expand your skills under the guidance of industry experts in state-of-the-art facilities. 

 

The cost is $25 per person. Tickets are limited, so don't miss out!

 

WHAT TO EXPECT

  • Gain hands-on experience with state-of-the-art equipment.
  • Develop practical and collaborative skills.
  • Work towards crafting a distinctive creative project.
  • Receive an SAE certificate to commemorate your achievements.

Please note: Due to the advanced level of the workshop content, participation is open to individuals aged 15 and above. Workshops run concurrently, so you will need to select your preferred discipline when you register. "Create for a Day" is available at all SAE campuses - ensure you choose the correct location when securing your spot.
