CAPA and Languages

Japanese:  

Year 7 have been working hard at completing their first Japanese assessment task. They had a conversation with a partner completely in Japanese, asking each other questions about their names, ages, nationalities and hometowns. Hopefully they’ve been brave enough to share some of their new sentences at home! 

TheatreSports 

On Tuesday 14th May Ms Bendeich took the Intermediate TheatreSports team to compete at St Patrick’s College in Strathfield. This is the team’s third year competing together and it was great to see their skills over the night. Each round featured a different game, with the team playing a hilarious round of Time Warp. In this game, at any point the host may call “Time Warp”, and nominate a change in time and place (5 minutes later, a day before etc). The players freeze and the story jumps to the new time/place where things have changed. Something the audience did not get to see has to have happened or the character dynamic needs to have changed when time moved forwards or backwards. In Week 8, the team will have the chance to show their skills again at the inaugural CHS TheatreSports Night. 

Year 9 Visual Art 

The art rooms have been buzzing this term! Students have been working hard to refine their artworks for assessment tasks during class time, and even choosing to work on them during breaks. Inspired by an artist they selected from the Modern Art period, Year 9 visual arts have created some fantastic acrylic on canvas landscape paintings of the Camden area, see the examples below. They are now moving on to a drawing unit focused on the genre of Still Life.

We have two events coming up this term: 

• Ensemble + Solo Night – Wednesday 12th June 6pm  - Highlighting the work of our extracurricular ensembles and HSC performances 

• TheatreSports @ CHS – Wednesday 19th June 6pm - Teams of students (and teachers) participating in improvised theatre games
