From Our School Leaders
SRC Free Dress Day
Thank you to everyone who came to school in free dress last Friday and donated a gold coin. We raised enough money to adopt a platypus for a year. Our adoption letter and picture of our platypus is on the way and we look forward to having a competition to name our platypus later in the term.
PJ Day – Friday 21st June
The SRC are now in the process of organising a Pyjama Day on Friday 21st June as part of our Student Wellbeing Week. They will be raising funds for Kids Helpline as part of this day, to support the wellbeing of all kids.
National Sorry Day - Sunday 26th May
Last Friday at assembly we acknowledged National Sorry Day. Every year, on 26th May, we remember and acknowledges the mistreatment of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who were forcibly removed from their families and communities, which we now know as ‘The Stolen Generations’.
National Sorry Day is a day to acknowledge the strength of Stolen Generations survivors and reflect on how we can all play a part in the healing process for our people and nation.
Staffing And Replacement Teachers
We look forward to welcoming back Rachel Crofts from maternity leave, commencing Wednesday 3rd June. Rachel will be returning to Scoresby Primary School as the Science teacher on Wednesdays and Thursdays. We would like to thank Lachlan Byass for filling in across this term, and continuing the great work we do in Science.
You may have heard that there is a teacher shortage at the moment and, at times, we are really struggling to find replacement teachers when our staff are absent. We have agencies that we contact to get replacements, and we have our own bank of teachers, who are either on leave or doing CRT work, that we contact. There is a lot of illness around at the moment, and even the replacement teachers are cancelling on us at the last minute due to their own sickness. It is across all schools and is far worse in the secondary sector, with more curriculum-specific skilled teachers required.
At Scoresby PS we are working as hard as we can to make sure our teaching and learning programs continue. From time-to-time, grades may be be split across a level if we are unable to find a replacement teacher. When we can, Nic and Kellie step in and complete the morning work and then split the grade for the later part of the day. The staff at Scoresby PS have been amazingly flexible and understanding around this issue. We are always appreciative of their commitment to our students, and teaching and learning programs.

Staff Carpark
I would like to remind all of our community that our Staff Car Park is used by staff, a few parents of students with special needs, and those who use our disabled car space. Please do not come into the car park unless you have arranged to do so, during the peak times of:
- Before school - 8:45am - 9:15am
- After school - 3:15pm - 3:45pm
Thank you for your understanding. We always have our students’ safety at the forefront of our decisions.
