Year 1 Secondary Years Visit

Last Thursday and this Monday the Year 1’s went for an incursion to the Secondary Years side of the College. The students and teachers had activities planned for us to join in at some stops with the Year 7’s to 11’s. At the end we got given certificates for participating. We had so much fun and want to thank the Secondary Years captains, classes and teachers for having us!

National Simultaneous Storytime

This week, Hazel Glen College participated in National Simultaneous Storytime (NSS). NSS is an event held annually by the Australian Library and Information Association. Every year a picture book, written and illustrated by an Australian author and illustrator, is read simultaneously in libraries, schools, pre-schools, family day cares, childcare centres, family homes, bookshops and many other places around the country. Now in its 24th successful year, it is a colourful, vibrant, fun event that aims to promote the value of reading and literacy, using an Australian children's book that explores age-appropriate themes, and addresses key learning areas.

This year's book was Bowerbird Blues! Perhaps you could celebrate this literacy event by asking your child about their favourite part of the book.
