A Message from our Child Safety Officers
As you know, in order to be involved at school in the areas of Parent Help, attending excursions etc, parents need to have a current Working with Vulnerable People Card available from:
In addition to this, applicants must complete our Volunteer Child Safe Induction.
This induction is available both through face-to-face training made available by the school on advertised dates, and also through an online induction system.
The online induction training can be found here: https://edpuzzle.com/classes/6490db65dbe41f42d484e109
Should you wish to volunteer on our campuses, please contact a Senior Staff member once you have your WWVP card and have completed the training.
UNIFORM - Terms 2 and 3
A reminder that students are expected to wear full winter uniform in Terms 2 and 3. The wearing of hats is not compulsory during these terms.
Please note that girls have the option of wearing our black trousers, or new black tailored shorts, in addition to the tartan skirts/bibs, or black skirts for seniors. These items are available for purchase or order from the school uniform store. A reminder that the green woollen jumper forms part of our formal uniform and must be worn under the soft-shell jacket. The soft-shell jacket does not replace wearing of the green woollen jumper.
We apologise for the extended delay on the PE rugby jumpers and the 11/12 rugby jumpers due to an unforeseen and unexpected manufacturing delay which is out of our control. We have been assured that the garments are now in production, and we are hoping to see their arrival in the very near future! We will notify you as soon as we have delivery. Students are able to wear their soft-shell jackets with their PE uniform, if they are not in possession of a sports rugby top.
Our Leighland Facebook buy and sell page is a great source for selling, buying or giving away preloved uniform. We also keep a limited stock of preloved items in our uniform room.
If you have any questions, please contact our friendly admin team who will be only too willing to help.

LEIGHLAND STUDENT INITIATIVES
My name is Isla, and I am a 9-year-old student attending school in NW Tasmania. I wanted to share a little bit about my business that I started in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic.
I started by making and selling scrunchies, but with the help of my mum, I have expanded my business and now sell a variety of school hair accessories including bows, clips, and headbands. My mum and dad have also taught me business skills to help me in my business.
My business is called Loved Not Spoilt, as my nan always told my mum that I was loved, not spoilt. Unfortunately, my nan passed away in 2021 from Cancer. To honor her memory, for every $10 spent in my store, I donate $1 to Cancer Council Tasmania.
Thank you for taking the time to read my letter, and I hope to hear from you soon.

Kinder 2025
Enrolments for Kinder 2025 are open! Thank you to those families who have already expressed their interest or commenced the enrolment process. We ask that any current families who have little ones for Kindy next year, to please reach out as siblings are not automatically enrolled, and enrolment forms are required to be completed for every child. This will secure your child’s spot and greatly assist our Principals to establish vacancies for new families.
Please contact:
Burnie Campus: Nicole Gillam (PA to Burnie Principal): 6430 9000 or n.gillam@leighland.tas.edu.au
Ulverstone Campus: Lindy Mott (Registrar): 6425 0999 or l.mott@leighland.tas.edu.au
If you know of anyone considering their options for Kinder next year - or any year group, please encourage them to make contact with Nicole or Lindy so that we can set them up with a tour and provide an information pack. Information packs are also available from the office, if you would like to collect one to pass on.
Nicole and Lindy look forward to hearing from you!
