Power to Thrive

Last Wednesday, Alison Warner and I had the pleasure of taking a small group of our Defence students to Alberton Oval to participate in the Power to Thrive program.

The program is a joint initiative between the community development arm of Port Adelaide Football Club and the Department of Defence. The program's purpose is to educate students by assisting them to identify their strengths as well as to encourage positive thinking and resilience, in a fun, relaxed environment.

The students had a fabulous day mixing with Defence students from other schools, participating in some amazing activities learning about mindfulness, goal setting, identifying and using character strengths. They enjoyed learning football skills with the AFLW and AFL players, a highlight was the inflatable Ninja course and getting autographs from the players on their new water bottles and hats.
