Pedestrian Safety in the Village

Dear Families,

The safety of all children at PVS is paramount and Drop-Off and Collection rules are in place to keep them safe.

Pioneer Village can be very busy. Cars are driving and reversing in and out of parking spaces at all times of the day, and a reversing car is an extreme danger to a small child.

To help us keep our students safe please note the following:

  • Be vigilant. Always hold your child’s hand when not walking on a footpath. Allowing children to run along the Village roads without holding their hands is highly dangerous.
  • Use the footpaths and crossings where possible
  • Road and pedestrian safety must be taught and reinforced, children will not acquire the skills otherwise. For advice on what children should be taught see https://raisingchildren.net.au/toddlers/safety/car-pedestrian-safety/pedestrian-safety
  • The Village speed limit is 8km, driving faster is dangerous
  • The Drop Off Zone is a one-way street, as marked on the road
  • Children must exit from the left-hand side of the car onto the footpath
  • The double gates into the school must never be blocked
  • Parking on the footpath is prohibited
  • Anyone in breach of these rules will be reminded by a duty teacher or school staff member.

Thank you for helping us keep your children safe.

Regards,

Pioneer Village School
