Playing in the School Grounds After School

We want to remind families about the importance of supervising children after school.

Whilst we encourage families to enjoy the social aspect of a quick afternoon play on school grounds, we ask that parents or guardians continue to supervise their children during this time. This not only keeps them safe but also allows them to engage in positive activities and avoid unsupervised situations that could lead to accidents or misbehavior. We also need to keep in mind that we have a large number of spaces that are allocated to Primary OOSH Care and we need to ensure they are able to run their service effectively.

If your child is walking home or going to an after-school program, please ensure they know the proper safety protocols and feel comfortable reaching out if they need assistance.

We appreciate your continued partnership in supporting a safe and positive environment for all our students.

Assemblies

We are excited that assemblies are up and running for the year ahead. Assemblies play a vital role in fostering a sense of community within schools, bringing students, staff, and families together to celebrate progress and share important information. They provide a platform for student voice, encourage participation in school activities, and reinforce school values.

The school parent calendar displays the times for when K-2, Stage 2 or Stage 3 assemblies are held. Please note that the K-2 assembly for the first one or two sessions will go ahead without parents in the audience in order for the teachers to model and set the expectations of behaviour during these formal events.

K-2 Drop Off Changes

Saying farewell at the gate

To support our K-2 students in having a smooth transition into their classrooms in the morning, we ask that from Week 6 (3 March), parents and carers say farewell to their children at the gate.

By Week 6 students our students know their routines and are ready to develop their independence and practice their social skills organically in the playground.

Families are welcome to be onsite in the afternoons for their time to connect with other families.

Cool Kids Anxiety Program

The Cool Kids Anxiety Program is based on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), with a focus on teaching practical skills. The program has undergone continual scientific evaluation and development to include the latest understanding of anxiety and its treatment. Current results indicate that most young people who complete our programs show significant improvement. Following treatment, there are marked increases in school attendance, academic achievement, confidence, number of friends and involvement in extra-curricular activities and decreases in worry, shyness, fear and family distress.

Please see below an opportunity for students with Autism to access the Cool Kids Program ran at Macquarie University.
