NAPLAN Begins – Supporting Our Students
Today marked the beginning of NAPLAN for our Year 3 and Year 5 students. For many, this brings a mix of excitement and nerves, which is completely normal. At Greenhills, we acknowledge that while NAPLAN is an important assessment, it is just one test on one day and does not define a student's abilities or achievements. We encourage students to see NAPLAN as just another day at school, where they simply do their best like they do every other day.
When discussing NAPLAN with your child, it is helpful to remind them that this assessment highlights strengths and areas for further support, but it does not measure their sporting ability, musical talent, creativity, or kindness - qualities that make each child unique. Every individual possesses a wide range of strengths, including problem solving skills, empathy, resilience, and a love of learning, all of which contribute to their successes.
At Greenhills, we are committed to nurturing students holistically, ensuring they develop academically, socially, and emotionally. While NAPLAN provides valuable insights into individual progress, it also serves as an opportunity for us to reflect on our teaching practices and continually improve the learning experiences we provide.
We encourage families to support their children with positive reinforcement, ensuring they approach NAPLAN with confidence and a growth mindset. A good night's sleep, a nutritious breakfast, and reassurance that they are more than just a test score can make all the difference.
Thank you for your ongoing support in helping our students thrive.
