Creating Futures Together

Discover how dyslexic-friendly books can make a meaningful difference for many students

By including dyslexic-friendly books in our library and classrooms, we’re making sure every student has the chance to enjoy the magic of reading. Because every reader matters!

Reading should be an open door to knowledge and imagination, but for students with dyslexia, it can sometimes feel like a challenge. That’s why dyslexic-friendly books are so important.

Dyslexic-friendly books are designed with special fonts, larger spacing, and clear layouts to reduce visual stress and make reading more accessible. Some also use simple sentence structures and engaging storytelling techniques to help readers stay focused and confident.

Another important factor in readability is the colour of the pages. Bright white paper can create glare and make it difficult to track words. To help with this, dyslexic-friendly books often use off-white, cream, or pale-coloured pages to soften the contrast. Some readers also benefit from using coloured overlays or adjusting background colours on e-readers.
