PRINCIPAL UPDATE
I can not believe we are in Week 7 of Term 1 already, with Chilwell Fair less than 2 weeks away.
Bike Ed has been enjoyed by all Grade 4 students over the past few weeks, and we thank the parent volunteers for their support in the running of this program and to Kate Rhind for her organisation of this program. There is one session left before the Barwon River Ride.
11 lucky students from Grade 6 are heading to the Grand Prix this Thursday to explore how STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) plays a massive part in this sport. Jason Cole was excited to take up this opportunity and no doubt they will have a ball in Pit Lane undertaking other activities planned by the Grand Prix education team. I look forward to hearing all about their experience.
It was great to see the Grade 5 and 6 students enjoy their first Lightning Premiership of 2025. Students participated in Volleyball, Basketball, Softball and Cricket and we heard about this at Assembly last week. Thank you to parent volunteers and staff for organising and coordinating this event. There are more events throughout the year for these students to participate in including the Winter sports ahead.
Well done to all students who participated in the District Swimming today at Kardinia Park. I headed down to cheer them on and was impressed by their efforts, along with support of peers during events.
Works have commenced on the Sensory Garden at the front of the school and Ramp works have been completed outside the Prep Space. There is no access to the school Office via Pakington St, you will need to access via Hungtingdon or Fairview over the next two months whilst the Sensory Garden Project is underway. We still have works being undertaken in the Library and hopefully this will be complete in the coming wees.
We really encourage as many parents as possible to attend The Resilience Project webinar on Thursday at 6:30pm. This is a powerful webinar with such important information for all families. The link is in the Wellbeing section of this newsletter and was also in a Newsfeed on Compass.
All students in Grade 3 and 5 will undertake NAPLAN this week. A huge amount of organisation went into this, and I thank Sarah Jeffreys for her commitment to ensure the smooth running of this.
Please ensure you head to the Fair page for important updates in regard to this.
Have a great week all.
Kind regards,
Meg
