PRINCIPAL’S REPORT

School Council

After seeking nominations for School Council vacancies for the 2025 year, an election wasn't required for parents, as we only received three nominations for the three vacancies.  However, we undertook an election for students following two nominations for the one vacancy.   I am pleased to announce that the following parents and student will now be representatives:

Parents:

Rose Guijt (2 years)

Harley Bailey (2 years)

Laura Vassallo  (2 years)

Students:

Scarlett Pogue (2 years)

As part of the next School Council Meeting which will be held on Wednesday 12th March, we will be holding our Annual General Meeting and electing office bearers for the 2025 school year.  As part of the meeting, I will also be presenting our Annual Report for the 2024 school year.  As is the usual practice, I will be uploading the Annual Report to the school website once this has been approved by School Council and the Department of Education.

We have a couple of long term School Council members who have decided to step down from School Council.  I would like to thank and acknowledge Kelli Dawber and Greg Burgess for their time and contributions.  Kelli who is our current President and a parent representative has been on School Council for seven years, while Greg has been on School Council for ten years, firstly as a parent representative and more recently as a staff representative. Thank you both for your support.

Barwon Swimming

Thank you to Mr Scott Morter, Mr Josh King and Mr James Claney who were in charge of the interschool swimming team which took part in the Barwon Swimming on Friday 28th February.   Well done to all of the students that represented the school.  An amazing achievement by the team to come second overall in the aggregate.

Kokoda

Congratulations to Year 11 students Summah Stevens and Sophie Martin who have been selected to trek the Kokoda trail as part of the Geelong Youth Program.

House Athletic Sports

The school held our house athletic sports at Landy Field on Thursday 27th February.  It was great to see so many students in attendance and participating on the day. Results are still pending, so we will have a full report in the next edition of the newsletter.

Open Night

The school will be holding our Open Night on Thursday 27th March.  We will be holding school tours for prospective students and parents from 5.00pm-6.25pm, followed by an information session from 6.30pm-7.15pm in the school gym. This will be a ticketed event and those wishing to attend can get further information via the school website.
