Letters from Year 2

While we don’t always have the answers, I love receiving letters from our students. Especially the Grade 2s.

The students were really excited and engaged in writing letters. So many good responses to how, and what can we implement or change to make IPS even better.

Just two of many is Jack P and Hamsa and Elsie. Hamsa asks for another soccer oval as did others but he does say he knows it’s a lot to ask for but he offered to help by giving his EID money and Jack who asks for a longer recess so he can make more friends and get more confidence persistence resilience and independence., all the school values.  Elsie would like to have more vegan choices in the canteen.

We shall see what we can do.

Year 6 - ‘Touching Mind and Heart’

At the start of term year, Grade 6 students completed a ‘Touching Mind and Heart’ ideas splash. They were asked to creatively write down important parts of their life that touches their mind and touches their heart. They will use these ideas to inspire their creative and informative texts that they will publish throughout the year. Here’s a sample of some the wonderful presentations the Grade 6s put together.

House Captain Award

This week the House Captain Award is in the form of a video "shout out" to all the Year 3 and Year 5 students (and teachers) who completed NAPLAN.

Year 4 Diversity Week

Diversity Week is an opportunity for us to celebrate difference. Be that cultural, physical,

ways of thinking... and more! It certainly would be a boring world if everyone was the same - our differences make our society stronger!

Neurodiversity Celebration Week is a worldwide initiative that challenges stereotypes and misconceptions about neurological differences. It aims to transform how neurodivergent individuals are perceived and supported by providing schools, universities, organisations, and others around the world with the opportunity to recognise the many skills and talents of neurodivergent individuals, while creating more inclusive and equitable cultures that celebrate differences and empower every individual.

The 2025 theme for Cultural Diversity Week, 'Embrace the Journey, Shape Our Future’ highlights the unique and shared cultural journeys that define our diverse communities, encouraging us to honour our own cultural stories and those of others, fostering understanding,  belonging and connection.

This Friday is the 60th anniversary of the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination. This is IDERD, or the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination. Some people know this day as Harmony Day.
