INCLUSIVE EDUCATION

Visual Arts

The Year 11/12 Inclusive Education Visual Arts class have been exploring the Elements of Art with Ann-Maree and captured these beautiful natural textures. It was their first go printmaking for the year and we were very impressed with their results. There will be an exhibition of these artworks in the Library during Week 11 this term.

‘Music with Rachel’ by Izaak U

For Music, we walk to D2, the Music room. We experience the fun and thrill of playing different sounding music instruments. My favourite musical instrument is the Piano.

The reason why I love playing the piano is because I love practicing playing songs like “Thunder” by Imagine Dragons, “American Idiot” by Green Day, “ More Than Anything” by Jeremy Jordan and Erika Henningson, and “Loser Baby” by Keith David and Blake Roman. The hardest song to play is “War of Change” by Thousand Foot Krutch. The song we’re working on as a class is “Thunder” by Imagine Dragons.

‘Thunder and Other Songs’ by Jimmy S

This term I have been learning to play the drums in Music. My music teacher, Rachel, teaches me and my classmates what to do in the class. I have never learnt how to play the drums before but when Rachel showed me how I got it quickly. Music is why I come to school.

My favourite songs to play include: Kiss- I was made for loving you, AC DC- Thunderstruck and Thunder by Imagine Dragons. Kiss is a fun challenge. Thunder is easy to play.

At lunch I play on the drums too cause it is very fun. Drums are easy to learn if you just have a go and have good music to play with.

‘Ancient Egypt’ by Florence G

Our Society class is Studying Ancient Egypt with our Teacher Lis and SLSO Marie. I particularly have been interested in the clothing of women and make up. The activity I mostly liked was designing Egyptian women's dresses and researching the make up. Did you know that both men and women wore distinctive make up on their faces? The study of Ancient Egypt has been our Term One research project and I am looking forward to mummifying a tomato in our next class. We made Egyptian Canopic Jars and these jars were used to store the dead body’s organs.

It has mostly been in our C1 classroom and our adventures take place not only in the classroom but through our interactive whiteboard using google, YouTube and film.

The study of Ancient Egypt was interesting because of their lifestyle especially if you were a Pharaoh. The Pharaoh was regarded as a god on earth and the ruler of both Upper and Lower Egypt.

Fun fact about Cleopatra was that she was the last active ruler of Egypt and she had romantic alliances with the Roman leaders Julius Caesar and Mark Antony. She was intelligent and spoke many languages.

‘A Day at TAFE’ by Austin R

I go to Kingswood TAFE every Monday to bake. I spend the day with Isaac K learning from Chef. We have made a range of cookie and biscuits. My favourite was the Anzac Biscuits.

My day starts by catching the train to Kingswood and then I walk to the Kingswood TAFE. It’s about an hour and a half trip. It’s worth the travel time.

First, I change into my baking clothes and then I head to class. We are in the kitchen first washing our hands and prepping. Chef does a demo for us and then we do it on our own. We get to taste test at the end. We pack the yummy biscuits in a container to take home. My friends and family enjoy having some.

Our day finishes at 1.00pm. My journey is the same home. I really enjoy going to TAFE because I get to make yummy things and make enough that I can take home and share with my friends and family.

‘Take the Long Road to the Shops’ by Summah P

It was a hot March Monday morning when we commenced our journey to Rouse Hill Town Centre. With Opal cards in hand, Lis, Genevieve, Maria and Marie with Fateeha, Elizabeth, Jimmy, Florence, Ella and myself caught the 752 bus on Eastern Road to Rouse Hill. The trip was just long enough, the bus was busy, and we were lucky to get a seat.

We travelled here to get a half day off school work. It felt like a day off school, but really we went there to get experience getting on and off a bus and travelling to a different destination.

When we arrived we walked around the centre doing a scavenger hunt of shops, had morning tea in the open courtyard, then had a visit to the library. A decision was made to travel the Metro (even though I don’t like it) to Tallawong (because Lis had never been on the Metro) - here we got off the train and then reboarded the same train returning to Rouse Hill then caught the bus and returned to school.

Apart from the amount of walking it was a fun day. I would do it again. Next time we are going to Macquarie Shopping Centre - Yeah by bus and Metro!
