Dear Parents/Guardians,
Yard Works
This week most of our yard has been fenced due to the Asphalt works and the installation of our new playground. We can't wait until it is all finish.
Emergency Management Procedure
All schools are required to have an emergency management plan which includes a variety of processes for handling an emergency. These include at least one practice emergency drill each term. These include; evacuation offsite, evacuation onsite, lockdown and a zone lock out. We plan to hold a lockdown drill Tomorrow, Friday 7th March. If you have any questions or concerns, please let your child's classroom teacher know so that we can put some additional supports in place
Labour Day Public Holiday & Pupil Free Day
Parents are reminded that Monday 10th March is a Public holiday and Tuesday 11th is a pupil free day. There will be no school on this day, staff will be engaged in professional learning.
What a Great start to this years Community Clubs
Last Friday our first set of Community Clubs for this year started and even though these session didn't start until the afternoon the school, the buzz and excitement around the school was obvious from the moment the kids arrived in the morning. These sessions run on Friday afternoons for 4 week blocks. Some of the clubs on offer are onsite at school and others are in various locations in the Rochester Community. We had students, running, bike riding, on scooters at the skatepark, Lego/construction, basketball clinic, Tennis, calm club and cooking.
Clean up Australia Day
Last Friday was School's clean up Australia Day. Staff and students spent some time out in the Rochester community collecting rubbish to help make our town an even nicer place to be! Thank you to all involve.
NAPLAN
The National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) 2024 for Grades 3 and 5, will begin on Wednesday March 11th. These tests assess student knowledge and skills in Writing, Reading, Language Conventions and Numeracy.
Junior Park Rangers
This week a group of students from grade 5/6 started a program at the Kyabram Fauna Park called Junior park Rangers. This program runs for 10 weeks and encourages engagement, resilience and confidence. Through cooperative learning, students learn responsibility, research skills, teamwork and how to care for animals and the environment.
Attendance Ladder Winners - February
Congratulations to Grade Prep/1 Ross who finished on top of the Attendance ladder for the month of February with only 14 absences. Also congratulations Grade 2 Carroll who had the least unexplained absences. (34 absences but all explained by parents). Both classes are busy discussing how the will celebrate this great work. Please remember to contact the office or send in a note if your child is away for any reason otherwise it remains on our system as unexplained.
