In the most recent edition of Focus, I provided information on Positive Classroom Management Strategies – an approach we are taking on this year at Parkdale Primary School. Hand in hand with this approach we have drafted a set of consequences for behaviour that does not meet the expectations that we have established or that breaks the new school rules that we have developed.
Embedding and refining these will be an ongoing part of our work here this year. Below is a copy of the 4 School Rules (and how the Super 6 Values fit into these) as well as the process for applying consequences for behaviour that does not comply within our framework. You will see, as you read through, that we have endeavoured to make behaviour a learning process and prioritise this – primary school children are still very much learning how to behave and act within a social context. The process is also progressive in that the consequences become more serious for higher level or continued discretions.
I would love to hear your feedback, as these documents are very much works in progress and we are seeking student feedback on them as well. This week the SRC students provided some good insights into the process from a student perspective.
At Parkdale Primary School, we are committed to providing a safe and supportive learning environment for all our students. We continuously strive to improve our policies and ensure that every child feels happy and secure.
As part of our ongoing efforts, we are conducting a survey to gather insights from parents about their perceptions and experiences regarding bullying at school. Your feedback will help us assess our current approach and identify any areas for improvement.
We kindly ask you to complete the anonymous survey by Thursday 3rd April. It should take only a few minutes. You can access the survey online at
