Principal's Report

 - Tania Sorbello

Yet another great fortnight of learning has happened for the students of FNPS with the children deeply immersed in engaging learning tasks to build deep understanding and foster curiosity!

Our Year 1 – 6 learners have now completed their first International Baccalaureate inquiry, focusing on "How We Express Ourselves", and are transitioning to their new learning sequence, which will build on their understanding and create new and meaningful connections as they explore "How We Organise Ourselves". Our Foundation students will continue on with their “How We Express Ourselves” learning until the end of term.

The culmination of this learning will be presented to families at our IB PYP Learning Showcase open afternoon on Wednesday 2nd April 2024 from 3:00pm – 3:30pm.

Harmony Day

“Harmony Week is the celebration that recognises our diversity and brings together Australians from all different backgrounds.

It’s about inclusiveness, respect and a sense of belonging for everyone.”

This week is Harmony Week - as our learners celebrate and learn about inclusivity throughout this week, we will be holding a Harmony Day whole school parade this Friday, 21st March at 9:15am. Your child/ren are encouraged to dress in cultural dress or to wear orange to show their support for this wonderful celebration of belonging here at FNPS.

Divisional Swimming Carnival

Congratulations to our students who represented FNPS at Divisional Swimming this week! A big thank you to Ben, as well as our parents and carers, for their support. Next Thursday, twelve students will advance to the Regional level, and we wish them all the best in their events.

NAPLAN

The NAPLAN Literacy and Numeracy tests for students in Years 3 and 5 are now underway, with our students having undertaken their Writing and Reading last week. This week sees our learners undertaking the Language Conventions assessment, along with Numeracy. Any students who may have missed an assessment will have the opportunity to undertake a catch up session through until Monday 24 March should.

Continuous Reports

Last Friday, we shared our second Continuous Reporting Learning Task with families. Continuous Reporting is a valuable tool that complements Semester Reports and Progress Reports, providing real-time updates on student progress. These reports will be shared periodically throughout the term.

Through Compass, families can access selected classroom Learning Tasks, which outline student experiences, their alignment with Victorian Curriculum standards, and teacher comments highlighting achievements and areas for improvement or learning goals. To view these reports, visit your child’s Compass profile under the ‘Learning Tasks’ tab. For the best experience, use a browser window on your computer, where you can select a Learning Task and view teacher feedback along with your child’s work.

Once you have viewed your child/ren’s task, we encourage you to leave a comment, notifying your classroom teacher that you have accessed the learning experience information.

Go gently,

Tania
