Last week we began our season of Lent as a school community, the primary and infants children joined our parish masses to mark the beginning of this journey on Ash Wednesday. This mass set the tone of reflection, prayer and reminded us of the importance of growing closer to God. We feel blessed to have a strong connection with our parish and are grateful for all the parents and families who joined us.
Our Year 6 leaders, accompanied by Mrs. Krystle Perera, attended the Parramatta Diocese Project Compassion launch, an event that inspires us to make a difference in the lives of those less fortunate. Across all classrooms, our children have shown remarkable generosity by donating to this important cause. A heartfelt thank you for your support, through our collective efforts, we can make a tangible difference in the lives of others, both locally and globally.
As I visited the infants classrooms last week, I was humbled by their Lenten promises. Our youngest students made heartfelt Lenten promises which reflect their growing awareness of the importance of kindness, forgiveness, gratitude and compassion. The children were so eager to tell me about their promises and why they were important. I encourage you to continue these conversations at home with your child/ren.
In the Primary classes, our students are engaging in lessons about reconciliation as they prepare to participate in this sacrament over the coming weeks. With the guidance of Fr. Wojciec and Fr. Jeremy, they will have the opportunity to deepen their spiritual journey and reflect on the significance of forgiveness and mercy.
Our Year Six children attended an Encounter Experience with Gen Bryantorganised by CSPD Mission Team where they were able to engage in prayer, share their reflections through music and movement, meet other children from the Parramatta Diocese and explore the person of Jesus through the question, “Who do you say I am?”
Finally, a huge thank you to all the parents who have completed the Enhancing Catholic School Identity Survey, having your voice represented in our data helps us to have a more holistic and authentic understanding of our Catholic Identity. As always your partnership is appreciated. If you haven’t already done so and would like to – there is still time!
Wishing you a blessed Lent season.
