St Michael's PFA News

PFA News:
Congratulations!
Once again a massive thank you and huge congratulations to everyone who baked, set up, cleaned up and served on our great St Michael's Cake Stall at the Ashburton Festival. We are so proud to announce that we raised the AMAZING total of $4,100
Special congratulations to our Fabulous Festival Coordinators - Simone Garrard, Loz Prior and Jane Potter. Thank you so much for making the magic happen!
This is the first contribution towards the PFA's major fundraising efforts this year which are focussed on refurbishing the Biggee Playground Equipment. We have lots more planned for later in the year and are looking forward to sharing some event news shortly!
Pancakes and Play:
On Tuesday, the PFA hosted the annual Shrove Tuesday pancakes and for the first time, this was held as an after-school event "Pancakes and Play".
Congratulations to our school leaders in Grade 5 and 6 who made the batter and thanks to Annie Herbison for marshalling all the ingredients and getting everything put in place behind the scenes. Enormous thanks to Stephen Molnar for manning the BBQ and cooking well over 200 pancakes in under 30 minutes! Thanks also to Sousan Esposto, Lourice Sonego, Laura Long, Melissa Hine (with baby Lia), Reijing Lim, Anthony Tesoriero, Abe Sahely, Anthony Giacomantonio, Jasmine Ghosh, Rodney Howells and Therese Molnar for keeping the batter flowing, handing out the delicious pancakes, helping with adding the toppings and cleaning up afterwards.
Thank you to all who attended and made this such a fun event. Thank you for your patience for the slight wait at the beginning - we unexpectedly ran out of gas and so were a little behind in cooking the pancakes. We would love to get any feedback on the event to assist with our planning for next year. Specifically, if you preferred the after school timing or would prefer to revert to the morning 8am breakfast timing. If you have any feedback, please email pfa@smashburton.catholic.edu.au or speak to one of the PFA members.
Scholastic Book Club:
This week, your child/children brought home a Scholastic Book Catalogue (Issue 2). For those of you new to Scholastic, we send out one catalogue per term. Information on how to order is on the back page of the catalogue. As always, you do not have to purchase anything from the catalogue. If you do purchase, 15% of your purchase price is given back to the school in the form of reward credits which are used to purchase new books for the library and literacy aids for the school.
I hope you enjoy looking through the catalogue. All purchases need to be made either online through the Scholastic Loop (see catalogue) or through the School Office by Wednesday 19th March so that we can get your purchases to you in time for the school holidays.
Book purchases will be distributed via the office basket or if you mark your order as a "gift" it will be held in the school office for you to collect.
Thank you again for your on-going support. Any questions, please reach out to me on therese.molnar@gmail.com or via mobile: 0417.014.772

Uniform Shop:
A big thank you to the uniform shop team - Shelly Davies and Cheryl Tan - who helped all of us look our very best for school photos. It was greatly appreciated by the many families who needed a very last minute school uniform item on Monday!!

Thank you very much to Jane Potter who has once again organised all the fantastic prizes for our annual Easter Egg Raffle. Prizes will be put on display in the School Office on Friday - make sure you check them out! Tickets will be sent home with the eldest child in your family next week. The draw will be during our final assembly, on Friday April 4th... there may even be a special guest hopping by to help out with the draw!
