Wer ist es? Guess Who?

Year 5-6 students are learning how to describe people in detail this term. They are focusing on important vocabulary and phrases related to physical appearance, such as hair colour, style, length, eye colour, and accessories. For example, they are learning how to describe someone’s hair as “blonde” (blonde), “curly” (lockig), or “long” (lang). Students also practice describing eye colour, such as “blue” (blau) or “brown” (braun) and incorporating accessories like glasses (Brille) or hats (Hut).

In addition to describing physical features, students are gaining confidence in asking questions in German. They are learning how to rearrange word order to form questions. For instance, the statement “Ich habe blonde Haare” (I have blonde hair) becomes the question “Habe ich blonde Haare?” (Do I have blonde hair?). This grammar practice helps them form more complex and accurate sentences.

The skills they are developing will come to life in a fun and interactive way during a game of Wer ist es? (Guess Who?). By using their new vocabulary and question-forming skills, students will enjoy applying their knowledge in a dynamic, real-world scenario, testing both their language and deduction abilities.

Be sure to ask you Year 5 or 6 child if they can describe YOU at home!
