STAGE 2 NEWS

A big hello from the Stage 2 team!

It is that time of year again where we are all on the countdown to the best time of  year, CHRISTMAS!

However, before we get there, we still have a couple more weeks of hard work ahead of us.

MAPPEN

The Bilbies and Wombats have been working hard planning their MAPPEN stop motion animation. They have been thinking creatively as they develop a simple story, characters, settings and props. They will now build a set and a prop, and capture images for their stop motion. Once they are completed we will show and share them within our classes.

ENGLISH

We are absolutely thrilled with how the Bilbies’ and Wombat’s fantasy narratives are progressing. They are going to be fantastic pieces of writing. Stage 2 has been focusing on ‘showing, not telling’ and adding simple dialogue to their narratives. This has had huge amounts of success. We cannot wait to share them.

MATHS

Over the last couple of weeks we have been working on some pretty tricky maths topics. Topics such as Perimeter, Area and Volume which all make our brains sweat. We had a race across the oval, with trundle wheels to calculate the length and we measured the perimeter of areas in our school such as the cricket nets, sand pit and quadrangle. Now, we are focusing on volume and what it involves, why we use it and why it may be important in everyday life.

This term the Wombats have been having lots of fun in art. They have been learning and creating their own Kandinsky and Mondrian inspired artworks. On the other hand,  the Bilbies have been busy creating music on GarageBand. We have some very creative Stage 2 children.

YCDI/PAX

Stage 2 has been talking about the importance of having a ‘full bucket’. Both the Bilbies and Wombats are aware of how each person has a bucket and a dipper, and with positivity, you fill your bucket and the buckets of others. As a stage, we have been working together to ensure  each person's bucket is full of happy and warm emotions. So, how full is your bucket?
