Education for your child is important and regular attendance at school is essential for your child to achieve their educational best and increase their career and life options.
What are my legal responsibilities as a carer?
Education in New South Wales is compulsory for all children between the ages of 6 and 17 years of age. The Education Act 1990 requires that parents ensure their children of compulsory school age are enrolled at, and regularly attend school.
What if my child has to be away from school?
On occasion, your child may need to be absent from school. Following an absence from school you must ensure that within 7 days you provide the school with a verbal or written explanation for the absence.
You can notify the school of your child’s absence using ONE of the following methods:
- Reply to the text message that is sent to you regarding your child’s absence (the text will come from the number 0476 857 205 – ensure there are no restrictions on your phone which may prevent the message from being delivered)
- Call the school on 02 9621 3622 to notify the reason for your child’s absence
- Send the school an email: evans-h.school@det.nsw.edu.au
- Write a note for your child to give to their roll call teacher when they return to school. Include:
- Your child’s name / class
- The dates your child was absent
- The reason your child was absent
Canteen
The school canteen is operated by 'Healthy Canteens Australia'.
The school canteen operates every school day. It provides a nutritious variety of wholesome foods, both hot and cold. Orders for lunch are taken before school or at recess, and to avoid disappointment, students are encouraged to order their lunch at these times.

Uniform Shop
The Evans High School Uniform Shop is run by GTschool.com.au and is conveniently located in the administration block near the school front office. The uniform shop is opened at 8am - 9:30am on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Payment is required on the day of purchase and can be made by cash, credit card or EFTPOS. No cheques will be accepted and unfortunately Layby is not available.
If stock is unavailable an order will be placed on your behalf, and you will be notified when it arrives.
Online ordering is available at https://www.gtschool.com.au/. Click on the Evans High School logo and commence your order.
NOTE: Please add parent’s name and mobile number along with the child’s full name in the comment’s column provided and you will be notified when your order is ready for collection from the uniform shop at Evans High School.
