Learning and Teaching in 5/6SC

After such an exciting beginning, it is hard to believe that we are halfway through term 4 already! The grade 5’s have begun the leadership program, while the grade 6’s have been busy with their preparations for graduation. Last Thursday we were very fortunate to have a break from all our hard work to enjoy the amazing specialists day last Thursday. The students enjoyed a range of activities including African drumming, a pizza lunch and a very amusing magic show.

The graduating students have been very busy working on their graduation videos and writing memoirs. Last Wednesday they had a special guest, Sarah Counihan, who is helping to film and edit the videos. We are all very grateful for her taking the time to come back and film! The final video will be amazing.

In our leadership program we have been exploring leadership through a religious lens, with the mentor text, “The Storm that Stopped.” Students examined the story and used their understanding to think about how they can become ‘everyday leaders’ and discuss the important traits of leadership. They will now begin thinking about which school leadership roles they would like to apply for. The next few weeks will be an exciting time.
