Principal's Message

From the Principal

Dear Parents and Carers,

1 DAY TO GO!

Well the big day has finally arrived! The many hours, days, weeks and months of preparation will now come to fruition. An enormous amount of time, effort and energy has been poured into preparing for our Fete tomorrow evening. The generosity of people in our community as well as the wider community has been amazing. Parents have been busy organising stalls, chasing donations, preparing food and arranging goods for sale. All we need now is the support from the entire school community. Thank you to all those parents who have offered their assistance to work on stalls. We could not run this Fete without the ‘people power’ required.  It’s still not too late to offer your assistance.

We trust that all school families have extended the Fete invitation to family, friends and neighbours. Let's pray the weather is kind to us.

Some important things to note:

  • The children will be dismissed at 1:00pm tomorrow to enable the final set-up to be completed. After School Care will be available if required by families.
  • There will be no icy-poles on sale at school tomorrow. That’s an extra $1 children can spend at the Fete!
  • We still require helpers for some of the stalls and ask that you add your name to the roster to help where you can. Please use the following link to record your availability;

https://www.schoolinterviews.com.au/

The event code to access the roster for each stall is z2knm

  • Tomorrow parents will be setting up throughout the day and we could always do with extra help.
  • It is hoped that the clean-up/pack up will take place at the end of the Fete on Friday evening ... again we are seeking the assistance of as many parents as possible.
  • Parents are to remind their children that due to the handling of food, all children are to stay away from the back of the food stalls.
  • There will be no access to the school car park from 3.00pm on the night of the fete.  Please park in surrounding streets and make your way safely onto the school oval.
  • Pre-paid ride Wristbands were sent out with students today.
  • Plants. Now is the time to bring your plants.  Please take your plants straight to the oval.
  • Cake Stall. The time has come to start baking those family favourites.  Plates were sent home yesterday, please bring in your home made goodies to the HALL on Friday morning or directly to the stall tomorrow afternoon.

REMEMBRANCE DAY - 11th November

Tomorrow we remember with thanksgiving those who made the supreme sacrifice in time of war. We pray that the offering of their lives may not have been in vain. We continue to dedicate ourselves to the cause of justice, freedom and peace; and for the wisdom and strength to build a better world.

A Remembrance Day service will be held in the school courtyard on Friday from 10:50am. Parents are most welcome to join us.

PLEASE NOTE: There will be no 9:00am assembly in the morning.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old.

Age shall not weary them nor the years condemn.

With the setting of the sun, and in the morning we will remember them.

Choir Performance

On Tuesday our school choir performed at the official launch of the 2022 Kmart Wishing Tree Appeal. They are to be commended on their performance as they sang beautifully, with animation and entertained the audience who came to watch. Special thanks to Mr Bode who prepared the choir for this performance at such short notice.

The choir will be performing again tomorrow afternoon at the school Fete.

Specialist Day

Last Thursday the children enjoyed a variety of activities focused around our specialist classes. Thank you to the Fornaro family and Tarantino's Pizza for assisting with our large pizza order for lunch.

Please refer to more news about our specialist day further in the newsletter.

School Sports

Our 2022 School Sports will take place next Thursday 17th November from 4:30pm - 6:30pm and will be held on the school oval. Parents and family members are welcome to attend. Families are invited to BYO dinner on this evening. There will be no food for sale at this event.

Class Organisation 2023

Teachers have now commenced the process of organising classes for 2023. Teachers take a broad and balanced view when considering the needs of all students. It is our intention, as always, to provide well-balanced class groupings. To achieve this we take into consideration the academic, social, emotional and behavioural needs of all students. Teachers will draw on their collective knowledge of the students and expertise to arrange the classes.

Individual parent requests compromise this process and inevitably inhibit our capacity to deliver balanced classes. I ask parents to consider how difficult the task of arranging balanced classes would be if we were to act on all parent preferences. Therefore I ask parents to refrain from sending requests about student placement to classroom teachers.

To best support students in their learning and provide optimal social interaction we will be looping some students (students have the same teacher for two years) while others will change classes. Requests by parents to have their child/children placed with certain teachers is certainly not something we consider based on personal preference.

If you still feel there is a need to have an issue discussed, please make a time to speak with me before Friday 18th November.

Once finalized it will be extremely difficult to make changes to these groupings.

School Closure Day

A reminder that our next school closure day will be held on Friday 25th November.

Staff News

Congratulations to Jacqui Sharp who has accepted a teaching position at Hillsmeade Primary School in Narre Warren for 2023. Jacqui is planning to move further east next year and a school closer to home will be ideal for her. We are very grateful to Jacqui for the wonderful contribution she has made to our school and 5/6 students this year.

I am pleased to advise our community that Miss Molly Greely has been appointed as one of our 5/6 teachers for next year. Molly is currently teaching 5/6 at St Joseph's Boronia. We look forward to welcoming Molly when she joins us next year.

I look forward to seeing many of you at the Fete tomorrow afternoon.

Take care and keep safe everyone
