Rubbish Rebel Waste

Term 4 of Environmental Science

So much happening in this busy term of energy discovery. Students in Foundation and Grade 1 have become energy detectives searching the school yard for signs of energy. Students in Foundation also experimented with different forces in energy and how we can transfer energy from one object to another.

Students in Grade 2 have become energy experts by creating videos demonstrating examples of energy in use and explanations to teach others.

Icy pole sales!

SPS has started using the stainless steel icy pole moulds, purchased with the Single Use Plastics grant supplied by Mornington Peninsula Shire. Our icy pole sales in the first three weeks of term have been enormous and we have avoided using nearly 500 pieces of single use plastic by using our reusable moulds instead. Icy poles are 50cents and can be purchased on a Friday.

Somerville PS recycling hub

We have so many ways to recycle your items from home here at SPS. Don’t forget to pop by our recycling station, just outside the Enviro room, to drop off your tablet blister packs (empty), plastic bread tags, socks, batteries, dental hygiene products and empty markers, pens and highlighters. You can also pick up a free book from our book box to take home.
