YEAR 7 KIDS FOOD FOR KIDS PROGRAM

During Extended PCG last Friday morning, Year 7 Thu Duc made sandwiches for kids less fortunate than us at Koondoola Primary School for a program called Kids Food For Kids. It was fun to do this project as a PCG, and it was a good activity to work together as friends and peers. We each brought in a $2 coin; some of which helped to cover the supply costs.

It was great knowing that what we were doing contributed to putting smiles on kids’ faces. This activity really helped me personally realise how much I have to be grateful for, and to be aware of people our age that do not have the same advantages as us.

The email below was received from Koondoola Primary School:

“Last week, our school received a generous delivery of ‘emergency lunches’ from Sacred Heart College. Your Year 7s kindly made the delicious sandwiches for our students as their way of showing support for disadvantaged students. The sandwiches which are not distributed on the day are frozen and when students come to school without lunch, an ‘emergency lunch’ is provided that includes a delicious sandwich, an apple and a flavoured milk. The lunches were delivered by a Sacred Heart College parent, Mrs Kate Bullen, and we thank her for her effort.  Our two schools have had a very positive and ongoing relationship for several years and we thank everyone at Sacred Heart College for their support”.

Thanks to Bakers Delight in Mullaloo for donating the bread, the Pullella family from The Herdsman for the apples and the Home Economics department for its help.
