ADVISORY COUNCIL AND P&F ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING (AGM) 2022

2022 Parent Advisory Council
2022 Parent Advisory Council

Earlier this week, the College held the 2022 Advisory Council and P&F AGM. I am delighted to announce that the following parents have been elected to the Advisory Council: Mr Matt Tindall, Mrs Lisa Fogliani, Mr Mark Ambrose and Mrs Tricia Sumich.  Whilst Mr Tindall, Mrs Fogliani and Mr Ambrose will be new to the Council, Mrs Sumich enters her second term as a Council member. I am also very grateful that we had lots of high quality nominations for a position on the Council; it certainly shows that many of our parents/caregivers are willing to contribute their expertise and skills to the future development and improvement of the College.

As part of the AGM, I took the opportunity to show attendees a summary of the College's Strategic Plan 2023-2026 that we have been working on throughout the year. I will expand on this summary at our annual Awards Night on Tuesday evening and the document will be available on the College website for the commencement of the 2023 academic year.

AWARDS NIGHT

As you are aware, the College Awards Night this year will be held in the College Koort Centre as a trial on Tuesday 22 November.

Please note that the Library will be closing at 4:00pm on Tuesday due to this event.

I am certainly looking forward to showcasing our students’ gifts and talents across all aspects of the school and presenting awards to our highest performing students on the evening.

END OF YEAR WRAP UP

Our Year 12 students conclude their ATAR Course Examinations today. I hope they have done well and I wish them all the best as they move into the next phase of their lives. Year 11 students also finish their examinations today. Year 10 students had their end of Year Mass yesterday and will have their final Assembly this coming Monday, before commencing their examinations.

Year 11 students who have been selected for the Kimberley Mission leave next Wednesday for this exciting venture. Whilst it will be challenging, I know that their experience in reconnecting with the works of our RNDM Sisters in the Kimberley region will enrich their lives and the memories of their experiences will shape their lives as they move into their final year of schooling at Sacred Heart in 2023. I thank our teachers Ms Susan Rodriguez, Mr Tom Gravestock, Miss Simone Tagg, Mr Justin Whitt and Ms Gill King who are travelling with our students.

It was pleasing to see Aboriginal students from Koondoola Primary School and their teachers visit us again this week. They had a lovely time enjoying some games and fun activities with our Young Vinnies group. The College has built up a lovely relationship with Koondoola over the years and we look forward to continuing this relationship in the years to come. My thanks to Miss Sasha Wells, Mrs Rossana Hywood and all the staff involved for organising this fulfilling activity in the school.

The Young Vinnies group, led by Mrs Rossana Hywood, is currently organising Christmas Meat Packs for many organisations, including St Vincent de Paul Whitfords Conference, Ruah House, Aboriginal Catholic Ministry, Passages Outreach Centre, Shopfront Outreach Centre and Grace Café. We will also host Grandparents Rearing Grandchildren on Thursday 1 December for a BBQ with live entertainment. Heartfelt congratulations to all involved in making a positive difference to the lives of others.

ASSOCIATED & CATHOLIC COLLEGES OF WESTERN AUSTRALIA (‘ACC’)

Congratulations are extended to Mr Luke Skerratt (Head of Learning Area - Health and Physical Education) who was acknowledged at an awards function this morning for 20 years of service to ACC.  The association, which started in 1937, provides sporting opportunities to over 60 schools in WA. Luke is passionate about the College’s involvement with this organisation and this is evident by our success over the years. Once again, congratulations and thank you, Luke.

God Bless.
