Message from the Principal

Achieving Excellence Together

Dear Families,

Our school swimming program commences is scheduled for every day next week. The Victorian Government has allocated funding over the next two years to support Victorian government primary schools to deliver swimming and water safety as part of the Victorian Curriculum. The funding will assist students to achieve their Victorian Water Safety certificate, a base level of swimming and water safety competency, before leaving primary school. The Certificate is awarded when a student can swim 50m continuously, answer water safety-based questions and perform simple rescues.

Students are timetabled to go at the same time each day starting from Monday 7th to  Fri 11th November. It is important to remember to mark your child’s clothing with their name and to provide a bag for them to store their wet clothing and towels. This is regarded as an essential part of the curriculum and all students are expected to participate.

Active Schools Grant

This week we received the news that we have been the successful recipients of the $30,000 Active Schools grant. The money is designed to be used for increasing the participation and engagement of every student in physical activity as we look to further enhance their health and wellbeing. On behalf of our community I’d like to congratulate Mr Valentine for his work in securing the grant for our school which will go a long way to further enhance our PE Program.

Healthy Food

We encourage children to eat food that is good for their brain development. Please assist us by providing healthy food for their snacks and lunches each day. This will help their brain function for thinking and learning.  Whilst Albanvale Primary School is fortunate to be supplied with apples from the Food Bank organisation, children are still encouraged to bring fruit in their lunch box each day.

Uniform

Whilst the end of the year is approaching, we would appreciate your assistance in ensuring that a high standard of uniform is maintained. School uniform promotes a sense of identity, pride, cohesion and good order in a school. It allows students to feel equal and enhances individual student safety and group security, as well as enhancing the profile and identity of the school and its students within the wider community. The School Council Policy of Albanvale PS states that uniform is compulsory for the students of Albanvale. It is important that parents are vigilant in ensuring. Please note: Socks must be worn with closed shoes. Jeans or leggings under dresses are not allowed.

We have had a fantastic start to our Major School Fundraiser Raffle and would like to thank families for their support. There is still time to purchase more tickets as the raffle will be drawn on the 18th of December

 Families leaving Albanvale PS

Please let the office know if your child is leaving the school at the end of this year so that we may begin the transition process for your child with their new school.
