Stage 2 excursion to the Rocks in Sydney Cove

Recently, Years 3 and 4 had a wonderful time visiting the Rocks in Sydney to see evidence of early European settlement of Australia.

After a long bus trip, we met our enthusiastic guides from the Ranger Jamie program who led us to see Australia’s first bank, hospital, street light, poor houses, manors, sewer channels and unmarked treasures such as Australia’s earliest communal toilets and kitchen.

Our day ended with a boisterous play time in the Observatory Park and the ‘Ranger Jamie Olympics’, with a backdrop of the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Luna Park. Thank you to our parent helpers and staff, and a special thanks to Mrs Bellette for organising the excursion for us.

4B Student highlights:

'My highlight from the Rocks excursion was going through all the old buildings.'  Josh T

'Something I learned on the Rocks excursion was that back in 1788, where we were sitting was just rocks and water. I also learned that the canal was actually a sewer.'  Callum B

'My highlight from the Rocks excursion was when we did the quiz at the end and also when the rangers told us that the first bank was robbed by some 9 and 10 year-olds.'  Will A

'My favourite part of the Rocks excursion was when we walked through the posh people's houses.'  Millah R

'My highlight from the Rocks excursion was seeing Susannah's house because it was creepy.  I also liked going to Observatory Hill for lunch because we could see Luna Park.' Emelie T

'Something I learned at the Rocks excursion was about the 'Push Gang'. They were a gang that pushed people down the stairs and took their valuables like clothes and money.'  Chelsea T

We will remember them!

For over a century, 11 November has remained a significant day of remembrance and reflection. This is a day when Australians pause to remember those who lost their lives or suffered in wars, conflicts and peacekeeping operations around the world.

On Friday, as the 11th hour approached, staff and students gathered for a special Remembrance Day Service to honour those who sacrificed so much for our freedom and to pray for peace throughout the world and comfort for those who grieve.

It was encouraging to see secondary and primary student leaders taking an active role in the assembly and we were particularly thankful to have Year 9 student, Hayley E, perform The Last Post and Reveille on the trumpet.

It was a lovely assembly and students should be commended for their respectful and considerate demeanour during the service.

Thank you to the many staff, students and the amazing maintenance team who made this commemorative event possible.

Stage 3 Touch Footy Gala Morning at NCS

On Tuesday, Week 5, twenty students from Stage 3 at NCS enjoyed a half day sporting fun with about twenty students from N.A.C.

The morning started with some fun games to help increase students' rugby skills. James, from Touch Footy NSW, ran the drills with good humour and grace as everyone got to know one another better. After spending recess playing together, both sets of students began to play matches against one another.

There was plenty of fantastic play on display for the spectators to enjoy. Students were able to put into practice what they'd learnt earlier on. Some terrific tries were scored after slick passing and a few from explosive and evasive running. Tired legs and red faces showed that the students had given their best efforts in their three matches.

We look forward to more sporting opportunities, playing this and other sports with other local schools in the next twelve months.

Dragon Tag - Stage 3 @ Albion Park

by Boyd M

Last Thursday, Stage 3 played in a Dragon Tag Gala Day at Croome Stadium in Albion Park.

It was a lot of fun and the other teams were really nice. We had three matches. We competed against four other Christian schools from our region: Cedars, I.C.S, Calderwood, and Southern Highlands.

We also did a clinic that taught us the skills and drills of the game. Then, at the very end, we enjoyed a delicious sausage sizzle.

My favourite part was getting a great try. I ran most of the length of the field. It was so good!

Congratulations Year 10!

Year 10 start their Foundation Studies on Monday. Before transitioning into their senior schooling, they have been able to celebrate and mark the end of Year 10 with a couple of occasions.

Firstly, the entire year and their parents held a celebration dinner at the Fleet Air Arm Museum. And then, last Friday, secondary students gathered for the Year 10 Graduation Assembly. Please continue to pray for these students as they begin their Foundation Studies. Pray they will be able to remain focused and engaged leading up to the end of the year.
