School Council Report

School Council Update

Hi all!

I wanted to give families an update on the many things happening within the School Council at the moment!

It has been a busy few months with us designing, planning and organising some special ways that we hope to commemorate the Official Opening of the school expansion back in late April.  A couple of weeks ago, your children would have bought home a special badge that they were all presented with at assembly.  The badges have also been given to educators and school council members and we hope that everyone wears their badge with pride!  In the coming weeks, there will also be a Commemorative Booklet going home to each family that chronicles some history of the Miners Rest Primary School, explores the school expansion from start to finish and recaps the meaning behind the names of each of our school building.  The School Council feels that being a part of a huge school expansion like we have had is very special and deserves to be celebrated and commemorated.  We hope you like the badges and enjoy reading the book.

For those families who purchased a commemorative paver at the time of the official opening, we just wanted to let you know that there has been an unfortunate delay with the manufacturing of the pavers, but we now have a delivery date and we are working on finalising the plans for installation of our pathway in the reflection garden at the front of the school.

We had our November School Council Meeting Monday night and it was jam packed!  There is lots of work happening within the school, reviewing achievements and successes from 2022 and planning ways to improve in some area for 2023.  There is also much work occurring in planning for 2023 with regards to classes, booklists, school fees, camps and excursions – I can assure, everyone is working hard to make 2023 a wonderful year for everyone at Miners Rest!

As always, if you would like to reach out with any questions or ideas, please feel free to email me at larna.woodyatt@education.vic.aov.au

Thanks for your time,

Larna Woodyatt, School Council President.
