As the school play performances approach can I please remind students that they must attend their games as a priority. The majority of games have been arranged to be at home on the play weekend so that students can meet all commitments. I thank you for your support in this matter.

Triathlon

The NSW All Schools' Triathlon will be held at the start of Term 1 2023. If you ride a bike, run or swim and are interested in entering in a team in the Junior, Intermediate or Senior Division, please come and see me in the Sports Office. I have placed a clipboard on the bench at my office. If you have a team, list them on this. If you are an individual list the leg you would like to do.

National Schools' Basketball Tournament

All those students attending the National Schools' Basketball Tournament need to go to the Uniform Shop on Monday or Tuesday next week for a fitting.

Cricket

With this year’s Cricket competition being a 20/20 competition, we are hoping to encourage anyone interested in giving the game a try to see either myself or Mr Collins.

If you already play summer sport however are interested in helping out on home days please come and see me to have your name added to the reserve list for one of our home weekends.

If you play cricket outside the School and have a bye round this term please come and see me so that you can be added to our team for your free weekend. All extra help to keep BMGS Cricket going is greatly appreciated.

Tennis

It was another early start for our tennis team this week, travelling this time to tennis courts in Bathurst to meet our opposition was Scots All Saints College, Bathurst.

In both their doubles and their singles, Jesse and David had close matches. David won his singles with a convincing win in the tie break. Although fighting valiantly, unfortunately for Jesse, he lost in tie-breaks in the third set. Raphael narrowly missed out in his doubles, but Otto, Jed and Hugo all won their singles, with Jed and Hugo also winning in the doubles. Our Odds Team won overall, 12 sets to 9.

The Evens Team were missing our second ranked player, so played people ranked higher than them. They all played very well despite this extra pressure. We tried new doubles combinations this week with Eladie and Marlowe (pictured above) and Alex and Noah. Although unsuccessful, the team continues to learn new skills and improve each week. We welcome Lee Elliot to our team, playing for the first time. Overall, the Evens Team lost 14 sets to 1.

Girls' Touch Football

Division 1 Senior Girls vs Central Coast Grammar School

After a long week of camp for many of the girls, we travelled to the central coast to compete against Central Coast Grammar school. The game was very challenging, with both teams going try for try for the majority of the game. Unfortunately, the game got away from us in the end with the final score reflecting 5-3. Moving forward we recognise the significance of executing our attacking plays and capitalising on our attacking opportunities, as well as the importance of sliding defence. Player of the Match goes to Hayley Ling for her consistent effort throughout the entire game, even in the face of fatigue.

Intermediate B girls vs Central Coast Grammar School

Against a very strong Central Coast team that evidently featured many experienced touch football players, the BMGS girls can hold their heads high and be proud of their efforts. The girls never gave up, despite the score board not being in their favour. After half time, it was great to see the improvements to all aspects of play. Moving forward, it’s important that the Inter Bs continue to practise their defensive structure. Player of the match performance goes to Jessica Harris, as she continued to display high energy and enthusiasm regardless of the scoreboard.

Boys' Touch Football

Junior B boys vs St Augustine’s College

Last weekend Junior Boys' touch football side travelled to Narrabeen for their first game against St Augustine’s College. Unfortunately, BMGS were outclassed on the day. The boys were quick to realise the importance of speed in touch football, and are encouraged to continue developing quick reactions in regards to passing and dumping the ball. The team is to be congratulated for their positive attitude and hard work.
