Learning - Elmore / Bendigo FAQ

Transport:
Students will travel to and from Rochester by bus
- The buses will leave from Campaspe Street at 9.00 am each morning. They will return by 3.15 pm each afternoon
- Children will line up in their class groups. Teachers will have a routine for them to follow at this time
- Country buses are yet to be confirmed for travellers. As soon as we know, you will know
School Buses:
- Town and country buses will be running
- Will be running from Thursday
- Rochester connection to St Joseph's is still to be determined.
Arrival / Departure times at learning sites:
- OLSH Elmore: arrive at 9.20 am, leave at 2.50 pm
- CMC Junortoun: arrive at 9.45 am, leave at 2.30 pm
These times may change after Thursday and Friday. We know that travel times in cars are different to a bus.
Parking at St Joseph's, for drop off and pick up:
- There will be three buses transporting our children to their learning sites.
- We ask that families keep the parking bays directly in front of the school free for the buses to park.
- Parents are encouraged to park on the west side of Campaspe Street, in Pascoe Street or in Fraser Street
- If your child needs to cross the road, we ask that they use the school crossing. A staff member will be at the crossing
Supervision:
Children that are living in Elmore or Bendigo may be dropped off at OLSH or CMC.
- There is no facility for supervision before the buses arrive or after the buses leave as all teachers will be accompanying the children on the bus from Rochester
- Your child can catch the bus one way (EG: if they are dropped off at CMC by a parent, they can catch the bus back to Rochester - or vice versa)
- If you need support with drop-off OR pick-up, please let us know. We appreciate that this is a challenging time and we are not looking to make it more difficult
Communication with each site:
Each site (Junortoun, Elmore, Rochester) will have a mobile phone.

First Aid / Medication:
- Medication will be at each site for children that require this regularly
- Staff will have access to First Aid at Elmore and Junortoun
- Our First Aid procedures will be maintained. If your child becomes unwell and needs to go home, families will be phoned
The procedure for a child that becomes unwell will be the same. If a child becomes unwell while at school, families or the emergency contact will be phoned and asked to collect their child. We ask that families do not send an unwell child to school considering the travel time for pick up.
School Uniform:
Is optional:
- If your child has their school uniform, they are required to wear it
- If you cannot find / do not know where it is, casual dress is acceptable (covered shoulders and closed toe shoes). We will support you to replenish your uniform stock
We will have all of the lost property (uniforms) set up in the Parish Centre from Thursday morning. If you need something, please come in and take what you need.
If what you need is not available, we will help you access it.
Attendance:
Will be taken as children board the bus in the morning and when they board the bus at the end of each day.
- Parents are encouraged to use PAM to mark absences. Our usual practices of messaging if an absence isn't notified will continue
If you need to pick your child up early from their learning site, families will need to enter the school via the office (OLSH or CMC).
- Please let us know of these plans in advance so we can have your child/children ready when you arrive.
