Northern Division Swimmers

On Monday 4th March, the 18 students who qualified from the previous round of swimming were back at Northcote Aquatic Centre competing in the Northern Division Finals, where once again the sunny weather was there to greet us.

Our open age medley relay boys started the day off by finishing third in their event, which was a tremendous result. Finishing in second and third seemed to be the theme of the day for the St Raphael's swimmers, which in years gone past would've been enough to qualify for the next round of swimming. Unfortunately, this was not to be the case in 2019, with only first place in each event moving through to the next round.

Congratulations must go to all students who gave their best and represented our school with great pride, and should feel extremely proud of their efforts throughout the swimming campaign.

Congratulations must also go to Jane Huynh (5/6V) and Noah Ong (5/6V) who were able to walk away from their events in 1st place and qualify for the Northern Regional Finals, to be held on Tuesday 19th March at Watermarc Aquatic Centre. We wish them the very best as they embark on the chance to qualify for the Primary State Finals in 11yo Butterfly (Jane), and 12yo Breaststroke and Butterfly (Noah). I look forward to filling you all in on their achievements in the next newsletter.

As always, the support of the parents on that day really motivates the students to another level, and I am sure they greatly appreciate this.
