Year 12 Camp, April 2018
Kilvington’s Head of Strings, Barbara Geerars and her partner, Mike Rezny spent two weeks over these last school holidays in Cobden with Blaze Aid.
Blaze Aid is an organisation of volunteers which assists farmers and property owners in times of crisis, such as the bush-fires on Saint Patrick’s Day earlier this year, with the clearing of burnt fences and reconstruction of new fences. There are now three camps set up in Victoria for this work to take place in Cobden, Terang and McArthur.
Barbara and Mike spent most of this time working on the same farm alongside the whole family, including four teenage children, who all worked from early morning till dark. Both the volunteers and the farmers found this to be a rewarding experience.
If you want to assist with this vitally important assistance to people who are living in distress and great difficulty, please visit Blaze Aid's website. There will always be something useful for you to do to match your skills and capability to assist these areas in its recovery from the fires.
On Tuesday May 1st, Kilvington students will be cutting their hair for a cause. A number of Senior School students will be shaving their heads to support the Leukaemia Foundation and any hair cut which is longer than 35cm will be donated to the Australia Alopecia Areata Foundation.
All students are encouraged to wear their hair in a crazy style on that day (no coloured hair spray) and to bring in a gold coin donation.
If you would like to make a further donation please head to this link.
DONATIONS for auctions and prizes are being collected now.
Do you know a business that would donate a service or product? Are you in a position to donate an item, product or service? Do you have a business contact that might like to help us out with a prize?
