Melbourne Legacy 86th Annual ANZAC Commemoration

On Friday 21st April, a group of students attended the Melbourne Legacy 86th Annual Anzac Commemoration for students at the Shrine of Remembrance.

Thousands of students of the state participated in keeping the ANZAC spirit alive by commemorating the centenary of ANZAC and the sacrifices made by men and women who have served our country.

The Honourable Linda Dessau AC, Governor of Victoria addressed the students and discussed the importance of remembering to commemorate the women and men who have served our country during times of conflict and crisis. The ceremony included the Melbourne High Defence Force Cadets, school band & choir and a RAAF fly-over.

Separate from the event, the group of students led by Courtney McKenzie (School Co-Captain) honoured the 3000+ Australian nurses who served under terrible conditions during the Gallipoli campaign by laying a floral tribute at the Women’s Garden and Memorial Cairn.

Eva Brightling (Humanities Captain) and Florence Honybun (Humanities Vice-Captain) were invited to lay a floral tribute at the Eternal Flame on the schools behalf.
