Tales from After School Care

Sam O'Bryan, Extend Educator

The end of Term 3 is fast approaching.  This has also meant we have had more daylight and warmth to play outside!

The kids have taken advantage of this by playing more football and soccer as well as downball, with long queues forming to participate. The group has also had a blast playing one of my favourite games from childhood - cops and robbers. It's been great to see the kids running around and enjoying this game as much as I did!

The new sand equipment has also led to, as I’m sure many parents have noticed, to shoefuls of sand being transported home! However, the skills the children have displayed in creating intricate towns with tunnels, houses and farm land has been fantastic to see.

Indoors, we have continued to display our creative genius. And when I say 'our'…I do mean the kids. They have made some fantastic sock toys, flowers, mini mini gold courses and Father’s Day gifts.

Additionally, the curious minds have continued to thrive, with a few cool experiments being conducted. The two favourites that we will no doubt do again include making delicious ice-cream in a bag, and the classic Coke and Mentos!

Finally, we were lucky enough to have a spectacular visit from our friend, Gilbert the Gecko! Gilbert performed a new show for us that had us in stitches from laughing as well as tired from lots of dancing! It was great fun!
