Sustainability at St Raphael's

Congratulations 1/2M - Our Term 3 Nude Food Champions!
On Friday 13th of October 1/2M were the envy of all the school as they enjoyed an exclusive casual clothes day. The students of 1/2M were rewarded for being the class with the least amount of wrappers and waste in their lunchboxes for Term 3, crowning them the Nude Food Champions!
By bringing nude food to school, you will help to reduce waste and also add to the dojo point tally for your class increasing your chances of wearing casual clothes to school. More importantly you'll be making healthy food choices and helping our environment so remember to seek out reusable containers and avoid single use plastic and wrappers.
Say NO to single use plastic school competition
Speaking of avoiding single use plastic, the City of Darebin is currently running a competition inviting all students from Foundation to Year 6 to create a logo, fictional character or image to promote awareness of this issue in our community. The winning image may become the centerpiece for the Council's ‘say No to Single-Use Plastics’ educational and promotional campaign .
Your design can have words, pictures or figures, but must have a clear message about saying ‘no to single-use plastics’ in our community.
There is over $3,000 in vouchers for individuals and schools to win and so get creative and start designing!
More information can be found in the attachment.
Welcome to our new feathered friends.
Over the school holidays, St Raphael's gain a few extra members to our school community and a great pen made completely from recycled materials. Yes - St Raphael's are now the proud carers of three little red hens! Our lovely feathered friends have already blessed us with over a dozen eggs with the promise of more to come and are bringing much joy to the children in our Outdoor Learning Space. Come around to say hi to our new chooks and enter our competition to name them. The winning names will be announced shortly.
