Primary Music Festival
This term all the primary students will take part in a whole day Music Festival! This is a very exciting event that will involve a variety of musical activities and performances. Students will have the opportunity to rehearse and perform songs, as well as engage in a wide variety of hands-on musical learning experiences. This will take place on Friday the 22nd of July!
All ensembles will still run according to their normal schedule!

All State Jazz Festival
On Saturday the 14th of May we had our Vocal Ensemble and Jazz Band perform at the Victorian All State Jazz Festival. This event had all the top music schools from around Victoria come together to compete both in both Big Band and Vocal divisions
We were one of smallest school in our division and we were up against some schools with some very well established music programs such as St Kevin’s, Wesley College, Ruyton Girls, Ringwood Secondary and Carey Grammar to name a few.
The results have just come out and I am pleased to announce that the St Andrews Christian College Jazz Band was awarded 4th place in the Division B Big Band section! This is a particularly impressive result after moving up from Division C last year. Our Vocal group were performing in a non competitive division so did not receive a place, but they also performed exceptionally well.
We also had several members of the band be selected for the All Star band in their division. The adjudicators look for the most outstanding players across all of the schools performing and put together an All Star band. In this band we had the following students chosen.
Piano - Caleb Elbourne
Trumpet 4 - Caleb Ng
In addition to this Caleb Elbourne received the highly competitive Outstanding Soloist award for his stunning solo in our free choice song “Running With Scissors”
This was such a huge effort from the students and I am so proud of what there were able to achieve.

Virtual Ensembles Concert
The students have been working extremely hard this term, and we are very excited to present you with our Virtual Ensembles Concert!
The college has 15 ensembles of varying age ranges and skill levels, and each ensemble will perform 1 or 2 pieces that they have been working on this year. We are so pleased to be able to perform and present our hard work to you, especially in light of the challenges we have faced over the past few years. Whilst we had hoped to have a live audience, we are so grateful to have had uninterrupted rehearsal time this year, and are excited to make the most of every performance opportunity.
We hope you enjoy it!

VCE Music Performance Soirée
On Wednesday the 25th of May students from the VCE music class performed for the VCE Music Soirée night. This performance was for the students’ performance SAC for Semester 1. Each student performed 2 pieces of contrasting music. For the Year 12 students, they will incorporate these pieces into their end of year performance exam where they will need to put together a 25-minute performance program.
All of the students performed exceptionally well. Thank you to all of the students who performed and also those that were able to come along and support the VCE music class for this soirée.
