SECONDARY SCHOOL

We Are the Champions!

Congratulations to Emily, Yiran, Devon, Talulah, Ella, Annabelle, Isabella, Bellissa and Youran for competing in the CSEN Public Speaking Championships and for taking first place in the Junior Secondary!

All competitors beautifully prepared a 4-to-5-minute speech to present to the adjudicators and also presented a 2-minute impromptu speech with only five minutes to prepare. A special congratulations to Annabelle Tay for winning Best Speaker for the prepared speeches and Ella Ryan for winning Best Speaker for the impromptu speeches!

Well done competitors - you should be very proud of all your efforts!

Biggest Morning Tea

On Thursday 19th May, the year 12's helped to organise the Biggest Morning Tea fundraiser to support the cancer council. After several years of distant learning, it was so wonderful to finally see the whole school come together and participate in games, music, and food. Thanks to everyone's generous donations, our school was able to raise $1,580. A big thanks to all the year 12's and teachers who have made this special

day possible. Praise God!

The Biggest Morning Tea was such a fun way to engage with all year levels at school and raise money for the Cancer Council! I personally loved engaging with all year levels. The game that our group had set up was a nerf gun game. Many people from the younger year levels seized the opportunity to play this game. Overall, not only did it raise money and support cancer research, it was an enjoyable day for everyone who participated. This was an amazing way to build community within the school and connect with many different year levels.

The Biggest Morning Tea was so much fun and a great success! As part of the decorations team, we planned a great array of colour themed balloons, tablecloths, and other ornaments. The others baked delicious cookies and cakes as well as organised fun games. Standing behind the stall, the atmosphere was amazing as students from all year levels purchased the sweet treats while enjoying live music! Everyone involved did an amazing job to raise money for the Cancer Council and huge shoutout to Michelle for leading the whole project!

It was so awesome being able to contribute to the biggest morning tea. Heaps of prep went into baking lots and lots of cake in the week leading up to our fundraiser but it was all super exciting and a great experience to work with all the year 12s. Serving popcorn was so much fun and seeing the smiles all around the school made everything all worth it. A great day for a great cause!!!

Secondary School Expo

The Secondary School Expo was a fantastic success! It was pleasing to see so many families attend on the night to hear about the wide range of subjects and choices on offer to students at the Secondary School. Student had the ability to participate in Science experiments, build circuits and speak with teachers. Each family was given a Subject Information Booklet with lots of details about what subject choices and options are available to students. There are also links to more information on ‘the Hub’.

Parent and students also had the opportunity to listen to seminars, presented by our teachers. These seminars included topics such as VCE, Scaling and ATAR, and VCE Acceleration. The attendance for the seminars was fantastic and it was so good to see the growth in our partnership between home and school.

Thank you to the families who made time to attend this event. It was such a pleasure to host this event and share the exciting things happening in Secondary School at St Andrews!
