Prep News

Term 2, Week 8

Prep Reminders:

  • Please continue to fill out your child's reading checklist each time they read their levelled decodable reader to you. We need students to be reading each book at least 3 times before we change them over.
  • If any parents are available and would like to help in our Prep classrooms for morning reading in Term 3, then please let us know.

What we have been up to...

All Prep students had a wonderful time on our excursion to the Capital Theatre to watch the play - 'Guess How Much I Love You'. Even though they all enjoyed the show, the highlight for most students was having a play at Rosalind Park and seeing the bats.

Upcoming Fortnight

Week 9

This week in Mathematics is also a revision week, completing activities from a range of concepts learnt this term.

RRRR:

We will be finishing off our 'Problem Solving' Respectful Relationships topic this week. The lesson this week focuses on friendly or unfriendly decisions.

Term 3

Mathematics: For the first fortnight of Term 3, students will learn about place value in the number system - tens and ones.

Our Topics that we will cover in Term 3 are 'Fairness and Friendship' and 'Animals'. We will be reading lots of non fiction and fiction stories based around animals.

Our new Respectful Relationship topic that we will begin to explore is 'Stress Management'.

Final send off for Term 2

The holiday period is a great chance to relax, reflect and spend time together. Please keep in mind that 2 weeks is a long period of time for children, so we have some ideas for including literacy and numeracy into your break:

  • Playing board games together
  • Keeping a calendar with special dates
  • Talking about experiences
  • Reading Pip and Tim books on the iPad
  • Writing 'heart words' together
  • Car games such as 'I spy' for letters and shapes
  • Building structures
  • Writing shopping lists or letters to friends

Have an awesome break everyone!
