Celebration of

Learning

Regional Cross Country

On Tuesday the 31st of May, our student Kobee represented Somerville Primary School at Division Cross Country. After a hard race, Kobee came in at 9th place, securing herself a spot at the next race;

On Tuesday the 15th, Kobee competed in the Regional Cross Country race at Hastings Foreshore. Somerville Primary are stoked to have her representing our school, district and division at the event! What a fantastic opportunity.

Well done Kobee!

Indigenous Studies

Year One and Two students have been learning about the importance and significance of an Acknowledgement of Country during Indigenous Studies lessons. We understand that an Acknowledgement of Country is an opportunity to show respect to the Traditional Owners and their continued connection to the land. Somerville Primary is located on Boon Wurrung/Bunurong Country.

In class, we have looked at many examples and then had a go at writing one as a class. Today’s newsletter includes Year 2R’s Acknowledgement of Country at the beginning of the newsletter. It is also proudly displayed in their classroom. Look out for Acknowledgements of Country from different classes in future newsletters.
