7Q are hard working, responsible, capable and funny. They have been learning hard this week in Maths and English, as always! We are learning about poetry and poetic devices – sound and visual devices have been a major focus. Just as importantly, we have been practicing our non-judgement, tolerance, compassion and encouragement skills as students help each other to feel comfortable. Sharing ideas and feeling vulnerable when performing can be challenging – it’s fantastic to see 7Q supporting each other so well in this unit of work.
It's been super exciting to watch 7Q complete their maths tasks this week. They’re working independently and responsibly. They each have personal learning goals in mind and they are focused on their growth. They know how to find someone in the room with similar goals who can support their learning. They know which websites are best to help them understand misunderstood concepts. They use different platforms to cross check their knowledge.
7Q are working like a well-oiled machine every day. I’m so impressed with the progress they have made this year. The differences around their maturity, resilience and motivation in maths are stark compared to the way they approached learning at the start of the year. These kids are back in school full time and SMASHING IT!!!
PE/Health
7Q have started a unit of work on Volleyball. They have started really well, a volleyball can leave a few red marks on forearms and hands, but they have shown great resilience and perseverance in their efforts.
Students have learnt the correct technique for the bump, set, serve and spike, and so far have been putting their skills to work in pairs and small groups. We move towards match play and more cooperation in the next few lessons. A great start to the term.
Food Technology
Students prepared, presented and enjoyed their amazing seasonal Fruit Salad with yoghurt before the fun task of cleaning their dishes!
Humanities
In Humanities students have been learning about the way government is formed. They looked at the Constitution, Federation and are in the middle of a mock election.
Science
In Science, students are starting to investigate habitats and interactions. The swamp has been a fantastic source of information to consider different plant and animal species, how they adapt to their environment and how they interact.
