Carr Produces Magic

Bodey Carr against odds pulls himself through some dark times and inspires others while doing so. Bodey has not only been able to get his feet back on the ground, he has mentored others and he been able to produce some amazing artwork finding his school journey again after being a Iittle lost in remote learning.

Bodey Carr's start to the year couldn't have been any worse when his mother lost her battle with cancer, and unfortunately for Bodey he soon after lost his Nan as well. Then COVID hit and Bodey lost all interest in schooling and his TAFE work. Bodey really battled through a dark patch that lacked motivation.

But through VCAL and the Clontarf program Bodey landed himself some work experience in the local Indigenous kindergarten. After these three weeks of work placement it was like the light bulb was turned on again and Bodey went to work. Bodey starting smashing out his VCAL work, starting back at TAFE, was also mentoring some of our Year 7 students in class.

But his biggest feat was producing some amazing indigenous wood burning art which has now helped decorate the VCAL room and Clontarf room

Morning Training

Morning trainings have been a big hit at the Bairnsdale Academy during the first half of the year. A massive pat on the back to all the boys that turned up each and every week to our trainings. A big thank you to all the staff that join in and help out each week. We made the move in Term 2 to change our big morning training from Fridays to Wednesdays which we believe has been a positive improvement. 10 times this semester we had over 30 participates at Clontarf morning trainings. A hot breakfast of bacon and eggs is provided following every training session on a Wednesday. We are slowly starting to invite more and more members of the public back to trainings which is great!
