Careers

We are well into Term 3 and there is lots happening in Careers over the next few weeks.

Tomorrow /Tomorrow woman

On Monday and Tuesday this week the Careers Team shared a goal setting session with Year 10 and 11 students. We discussed the importance of always being hopeful of a bright future, how to identify what is important to themselves and how to plan the next step of their career journey.

We also discussed 'Where to Now', Study Tips and how to navigate the school careers website. https://bairnsdalesccareers.com/

Year 9 Morrisby interviews

Over the past few weeks Year 9 Students have been completing their Morrisby Profiles and attending their interviews. This a great opportunity for our Year 9 Students to help you make better decisions about subjects, courses, careers and pathways.

In partnership with the College Careers Advisors the interactive platform provides Students the opportunity of:

  • Self-discovery - Helps you understand yourself and the sort of study and careers options that will suit you.
  • Recommended study paths - Morrisby's study suggestions will give subject ideas based on your strengths, interests and personality.
  • Career suggestions - Recommended job roles suited to your personality and interests whilst keeping options open.
  • Applications guidance - Support with college, year 12, apprenticeship, university and job applications.
  • Action planning - Set goals and targets to keep you accountable and help you achieve your ambitions.
  • Careers advice and support - Morrisby helps with decision making at all stages of the career journey.

Course Counselling

Year 10 to 11 will begin next Tuesday 26th July. This will be an opportunity for students to discuss the subjects they have chosen with a senior hub team member and clarify any concerns they may have.

ADF visit

The ADF are planning a visit to Bairnsdale Secondary College for a presentation to senior students on Wednesday 10th August. More details will follow next newsletter.

University Open days

University Open days are a chance for students to walk around the campus, ask questions about courses, speak to academic staff and students currently studying, visit labs and facilities, and an opportunity to visit accommodation halls of residence. This is a great opportunity for all those current Years 12 students who are considering a pathway to university to explore further education options.
