Student Reports

Teachers are currently working on the semester one student reports to ensure they are ready for distribution to parents at the end of term. We hope that the Mid-Year report provides some insights for parents into growth. Parent teacher meetings will be held at the beginning of term 3. More information on booking these will be published on Compass before the end of the term.

Junior Hoop Time

Congratulations to our Junior Hoop Time teams, who played on Friday. The girls team won their grand final and have made it through to the next stage. The boys team made the grand final, however did not win this game. Well done to all the students for their participation and a thank you to Tayla Nichols and Tim Chapman for supporting and training the teams.  

Whole School Working Bee – Sunday19 June

We depend on parents to come along and support the school to sweep up and dispose of the leaves, which are always a challenge at this time of the year. We look forward to seeing as many people there as possible. We hope the opportunity of a Sunday working bee will allow those families with Saturday commitments to attend. 

Kindness Month

Our Kindness month of May was such a success, we extended the raffle. Students have been earning raffle tickets for displaying kindness at school. On Friday Kathy from Bendigo Bank will be here to draw the raffle. Three students will be selected for a prize with first place receiving a $50 voucher for The Leaf bookshop, 2nd prize $30 voucher for The Leaf bookshop and 3rd prize a $20 voucher for The Leaf bookshop. 

Trivia Night 

A big thank you to Felicity McGrath (Fundraising Convener) and all the committee for the planning for our first parent social event in a couple of years! Tickets are selling fast and with only one ticket left! If you missed out and would like to go on a waitlist please email the school at solway.ps@education.vic.gov.au  

A big thank you to everyone who has already made a donation for the trivia night raffle prizes. We hope that all families will contribute and assist the fundraising committee. See details on the Fundraising page of the newsletter.

Thank you 

I had to take some unexpected personal leave at the end of May/beginning of June. I want to thank Kate Nancarrow for stepping into the role of Acting Principal in my absence and to all the staff for supporting Kate during this time. 

I will be on Long Service Leave for the first couple of weeks of Term 3, heading to Fiji after the school holidays for some time in the sunshine. Kate Nancarrow will once again be the Acting Principal until I return on the 27th July. I am confident that the wonderful Solway staff will support Kate as Solway continues with the regular events at the beginning of Term 3.

End of Term

The end of term 2 is Thursday 24 June, with Friday 24th June a Pupil Free Day. Students finish at the normal time of 3:30pm on Thursday 23rd June.
