Sandhurst Junior Boys Soccer

On Thursday on the 26th of May myself and 14 other boys competed In the Year 7/8 Sandhurst soccer day. In our first game we matched up against Weroona college, going down 1-0 early in the game. After a quick goal back by Hugo Byrne the game was level. Shortly after a half time break Noah Willits scored the game winner to give us a 2-1 win against Weroona. With the thought of finishing first in our group we went into our next game against Crusoe to win and put a few goals in the net. Thankfully the game ended up with 5-0 win to us with our boys completely controlling the game.

Finishing top of our group put us in the winner’s pool alongside CMC and BSE. Our first game was against CMC, and we knew we had a decent chance at winning so we came into the game with confidence. Hugo Byrne put a goal in for us in the first half accompanied by Fayo A and Tom E. With a 3-0 win against CMC, it came down to who ever won out of us and BSE in the “grand finale.” Going into the game evenly matched until up to the last minutes of the first half where the wet pitch got the better of us as a BSE free kick skidded into the net, we were down 1-0 at half time. We came back out and dominated possession, but the ball just wouldn’t fall in the net where BSE converted again on a fast break opportunity. All the boys who competed on the day should be extremely proud of themselves for their efforts especially Byron Ritchie who stepped up in goals for the first time and played extremely well. Thank you to Fifi and Mrs Christie for coaching us on the day, and thankyou to Fraser for being our linesman. Also, a big thankyou to Miss Speed for organising the day.
