This week Dr. Cousins and I have been in Blackall in Central Queensland for the Isolated Children’s Parents’ Association State Conference. The Isolated Children’s and Parents’ Association (ICPA) is a not-for-profit voluntary parent body who live rural or remote and advocate for children who attend a small school, boarding school or distance education.

This active and passionate group seek support from obtaining a teacher aide in a one-teacher school and having running water in their remote schools. It is always wonderful to attend their annual State Conference and show Clayfield College’s support to rural Queensland’s families.

During the first week of the school holidays, the 2022 regional tour continues. I will be exhibiting at AgGrow in Emerald from Thursday 23 June to Saturday 25 June and look forward to catching up with current and enrolled families and Old Collegians while I am there.

Advice, Info, Guidance and Stories

 On Tuesday 14 June at 7:00 pm AEST, the Australian Boarding Schools Association (ABSA) will be co-hosting a free webinar alongside Bond University about transitioning from boarding to university for boarding students.

The webinar is called Boarding to University: Advice, Info, Guidance and Stories. An ABSA team member, Zahli, who boarded for six years and is a Bond graduate, will be interviewed about various topics and frequently asked questions relating to university, leaving school and, in particular Years 10 to 12.
